I got an SP5k last Friday and tested it out over the weekend. Really like it. Shot my favorite variety of ammo and it worked perfectly. But it needs a few upgrades to get it ready for my sear, so the work is underway. I decided to just use an old POF FA carrier that I had laying around and modify it.

Posted this over on HKPro but thought somebody here might want to see this.:

The modified carrier:

Didn't take a picture after bluing it but it looks pretty nice now. The chemical bluing matches the finish on the carrier pretty well, as if it matters. Used Birchwood Casey stuff that I've had for over 20 years. Still works great.

The blocking pin:

The shelf:

Does yours have a hole in the receiver like mine does? On the right rear spot where the optic mount clamps just behind the ejection port.  Mine has a long thin hole/crack in that seam that was filled in by the finish.  Poke the crack with a needle and see if it goes through.  I saw someone else with the same hole on hkpro, and HK took care of it.

I will have to look. What did HK do to take care of it? Can you post a photo that shows it?

Is that the stuff in the little blue bottle?

I wonder what caused that hole or crack.  I would guess that is was quite visible before the finish was applied.  Some QC going on there at the factory!

Heres my SP5K's hole.  I'm just wondering if other SP5K owners have the same problem.

If i remember from the thread right HK took care of it.  They either replaced the receiver or the whole gun, but I can't remember.  I sent an email to HK USA with the pictures.

Wow. I haven't even taken the rail off yet. But I will definitely do that and take a look. What a sad thing for them to miss.

Glad I haven't altered the gun in any way. That would have probably voided the warranty. Haven't even had it for a full week yet. Just on day #6.

Yes, the little blue bottle. I bought it years ago to blue a muzzle loader that I built from a kit. That was back in 95 or 96 so it's at least 20 years old.

That looks really nice.  I wish I had a sear to put in mine.  Are you going to put a 3 lug barrel on it?  I'm planning on getting the B&T for mine to use with my Octane.  I'm going for the classic MP5K-PDW look.

HKPro is speculating the B&T barrel to be around $500.  Between that, the $200 stamp, $390 stock, $975 Omega 9k, and paddle release upgrade thiat makes for a pretty expensive $2150 pistol!

Danm you HK!

Stamping issue.Die or mold clearance is probably off a little.

Well no hole in mine. I took it apart last night for a closer inspection and couldn’t find a problem with it.

I took the funky rail off the top (too big and bulky for my taste) and headed to the range. The thing ran perfectly. Ran Fiocchi, Federal, and Wolf ammo through it. Did a few mag dumps and a lot of bursts. Not a single hitch.

So now I’m bored and need something else to work on.

Edit: Oh, forgot to mention that I even tried some of my old HK stright mags. They worked perfectly in this gun as well. Very cool.

Funny how the new gun excitement lasts only a few weeks or months anymore, doesn't it?

Well I guess the real problem that I expected it to be more of a challenge and take more time and effort. I guess I've spent so much time with clones, I was just expecting some degree of rework. But my planned work got cut short by the high quality of the HK gun.

I guess I'll have to find another gun to work on now.

Looks amazing!  Hopefully mine will eventually be a semi-auto version of that.

I took my rail off tonight and I don't have the hole 18XX serial number.
