Take the black cable from the transformer and go right into the black of the strip to strip connector. Nice and easy. The LEDs can be cut on the white lines every few inches. Then just use the strip to strip connectors to string multiple strips together. The hardest part was connecting the strip to strip connectors because the back of the LED strip is sticky and wanted to stick to the connector instead of slipping in the slot. I can try to take better pictures later if you are interested. Some up-close pics of the connections would be great! |

Get yourself some Rifle Rods (just Google Rifle Rods)...they are the best solution for cramming as many rifles as you can into a safe. Having said that AR-15's just take up a bunch of room. I was planning on doing that actually. Do they velcro to the bottom of the shelves? |

The safe is a beast. I actually had to reenforce my floor because the awesome contractors who built it used particle board for floors and composite trus. I'm surprised how hard it is to fit 4 ARs, one shotgun, my bolt gun, and a 10/22. I'm going to have a rough time fitting more in there later. Wife said no to the 7241 until we move next year if we do. I have a ton of AR mags and some spare space in the safe for right now. I think I'm going to try to fit them in there. Hello all. New to the forums here. Great pictures of all the safes here.
I am the VP of Engineering for American Security Products (aka AMSEC). I saw this thread and figured I might be able to contribute. I just bought my first AR-15, an S&W M&P15 ORC. What a great gun, I am loving it bigtime. I have a nice collection of guns, and I am getting into the assault rife thing now too. So, after reading thru some of these pages, I see there are questions about security, safe ratings and fire resistance. I have been in the safe business for over 25 years, and I can probably answer any questions you can put up. I have been a founding member of the Underwriters Labs Standards Panel for Safes, Lock and Fire Containers. I wrote the CalDOJ Standard as a consultant, which they later destroyed with political ignorance. I am also a charter member of the ASTM F15 Committed on Firearms Safety Devices. Hope I can offer some value here... |

I actually found the site because an email linked to here showing one of our safes surviving a fire. That thread is HERE. Now I am gonna get lost reading about guns. Going shooting today. One of the perks of working in the sporting goods business is the discounts I am enjoying from buying from our close distributors. I got my AR at employee pricing, and I am waiting from my Trigicon ACOG TA11 scope and an RSR06 that I paid stupid prices for. This stuff is so cool, and I am really taken back by the advances in technology in the optics. The AR is badass too. I have an M1 Garand that I just love to shoot. I got my Son's school buddy, an 3-tour vet of Afghanistan, a new gun just like mine too, and he is also waiting for a ACOG scope. I hooked him up with my discount deals, always help a vet. We get his gun out of 10-day transfer hawk today. |
Finally getting around to posting mine. It's a Winchester 10 gun from Tractor Supply. I understand it's not the best and would've loved a Sturdy, but I was very limited by space. It's me the wife and two kids in a 1200 sq foot home so I'm glad the wife at least gave me the entire linen closet to use. Running out of room already. I really didn't want to store in the garage. I'm overran with ammo and plan to install a cabinet/safe in the garage just for ammo to free up space for guns in this one,but for know this will do.

Modular/adjustable for various configurations to accommodate variety of weapons, many with optics. 4. Storage for ammo. 5. "Tacti-cool" - visual appeal for my viewing pleasure. 6. Access to all weapons without digging through other firearms. 7. Efficient use of space. The room imposes certain dimensional constraints, so I did not want a monolithic ginormous safe. Since the I have a few layers of protection to deter theft before reaching the actual storage device, I opted against a gun safe. Instead, I went with a lockable metal weapons storage unit made by SecureIt. I really like it and it meets all of my requirements listed above. All optics are well accommodated. The yellow bins shown are in two sizes and can be adapted to hold handguns. I intend to use the notches on the sides to mount a few other items of gear. The shelves are very sturdy and designed to hold 400#. Rifles are easy to access and stay put where you want them without banging into others. Well now that I am finished "Restoring" this old McGunn safe I got...I am ready to add it to the permanent annals of the "Official Gun Safe Picture Thread" If you want to see the whole process...here is the link... Got an old safe to convert to a gun safe Its a HONKER...about 2000 lbs I think!  |

Did you drill that though the wood to the slab under? No, there is actually about 5 or 6 inches of space under the safe. I "fixed" the wheels so they don't roll anymore in a way that won't be easy to "un-fix', plus the weight of the thing combined with my extremely low crime area...I'm probably more safe than 99.9% of other safe owners. I went for years with a 200 lb Sentry "Safe" in my closet. (Not Bolted Down) Home break in's pretty much never happen where I live...I have lived here all my life and have only heard of maybe 3 or 4 in all that time...If someone did break in the safe is the last thing I would need to be worried about. Too much other "low hanging fruit" that will be easy to cart off! |

where did you get those casters for that safe? did they come with it? Ya the casters are original. They are welded to the bottom of the frame. I have changed the way the safe is sitting now...used two pieces of 2"x2"x3/16" angle iron, cut to the width of the safe, and made a pair of "tracks" for the wheels. Put some very dense felt on the bottom of the angle iron so as not to scratch the floor. The "tracks" spread the weight out a lot better. |
