I had a FastFire 3 on a Mossberg Shockwave and it proved to be a rugged little sight. When I saw that PSA had them for less than half of what I paid for my other one, I picked one up. I had replaced the standard sight on my Mini 14 Tactical with a Tech Sights rear sight, but even after opening up the aperture a little it still didn’t work great with my eyes. (The original owner should have sent the rifle back to Ruger. The rear sight would not go right far enough to get a 25 yard zero. The Tech Sight did solve that problem.) If I could just find a small, low mount for the FastFire I would be happy.  (The gun had a Samson rail on it when I bought it. I didn’t like my fingers being exposed to the bolt, but after I burned my hand the Samson had to go.) The Internet actually came through for me this time. Attached File This mount fits the forward scope mount on the Mini 14 Tactical and Ranch rifles. I’m really liking this combo. Attached File Attached File I could use the rear sight with a suppressor before I added the FastFire, but if I’ve got a cover on the suppressor the sight is blocked. The FastFire solves that problem nicely. |

Neither did I. I think I found an old PerfectUnion.com post about it. Apparently it’s mainly intended for Ruger revolvers that have a Ruger lug, and some of their other rifles. Most of the ads don’t mention the Mini 14 at all. But it fits perfectly. |

The stainless one no gunsmith will touch as everyone says the old Ruger SS is too hard to drill. I still have a drill and tap mount in the parts bin I’ve never been able to use. |

I put the Samson on both carbines with a Vortex Viper and it works OK. Far from a MOA rifle anyway so I guess the forward mount RDS is as good as anything on an older Mini |
