Thanks to all those who helped with the carbine question.

It depends on who you are trying to help.  Carlos Hathcock passed 10 years ago.  I believe Josephine is his wife.

If the registered owner was his wife how'd you end up with it? Did she sell it? It probably wasn't stolen from her.

I'd look into the historical foundation ,but I'd want another rifle to replace it, unless you're really well off. If it really was his rifle it's a piece of history, and to quote Indiana Jones "It belongs in a museum." I'm sure the foundation would love it.

Need some advice.

I recently purchased one of those AHF Commemorative rifles.  Unknown to me, included with the COA was some paperwork that mentioned it was a gift  to Mr. Carlos Hathcock.  When I recently contacted the American Historical Foundation I discovered that the registered owner was his wife.  It is my understanding that some of his things were sold over the years but the question is, out of respect do I contact and offer it to his family in case they want it back ?  The Marine Corps Historical folks?  Am I making way too big a deal from this?  LOL

Thanks

both were close to Hathcock, and will probably help if needed,
