Being that I live in an apartment, I let my local range install my Socom flash hider on my MK18 upper...  Fast forward a bit, and I realize I'd like to have an adjustable gasblock on the rifle too.  Problem is I didn't get back any of the unused shims that came with the flash hider.  Will it index the same if I remove the flash hider and reinstall it?  (might be a dumb question)  I apologize... Just curious if I need to go back to them and try to retrieve them months later or order some from surefire

Thank you!

Should index the same.  Only time i've seen them NOT index the same is if someone retard-turbo torqued the FH/MB on and it warped the shims.

I uninstalled one of my suppressor mounts (212a SF), and then re-installed it to the same torque. It indeed did index the same. You should be installing it from 20 to 30# of torque, although I prefer 20-25.

If it doesn't index the same, I bet if you contacted Surefire they would send you some shims for a small to no fee. I know Brownells has shims on their website.

Brother, I have some SF shims that are left over from my last muzzle device install. I live in Louisiana, and they could reach you in a day, two at the most maybe. You just let me know if it doesn't line up and I'll ship them and chances are they should solve the problem between them and what you've got, hopefully. Just let me know.
