I don't know where else to post this so I'll try here. 1. With a new shipment of 30rd AK magazines incoming, I need a few new ideas for storage of magazines. I mean all types: AR, AK, FAL, and pistol mags. I'm looking for easy accessibility as well as the least likelihood of scratches and dents/dings. Any different/innovative ideas are appreciated and pics would be very helpful also. 2. What do you guys use for the storage and transportation of cleaning supplies? Bottles of solvent, oil, all those bore brushes, cleaning rods, patches, etc. I am getting tired of moving all this around in 2 .50bmg ammo cans. Or, does everybody have a single purpose table that all this stuff just sits around on? As stated above, all info is greatly appreciated (by my wife mostly). |

I bought a couple of plastic boxes (small suitcase size) from Home Depot. They have clear , locking lids, and the partitions are removable/adjustable. 1 each for rifle/pistol/shotgun/black powder. They're perfect. For long-term storage of mags, disassemble, clean, lightly oil, reassemble, lightly oil, and seal in plastic bags using a food sealer. Ask CampyBob on the AK site for more info, as he made a few posts about this. |

Ditto RAF on foodsavering. The "innovative" idea I push on people is to consider the possibility your house will be broken into, burn down, or something, in a future where you can't get hi-caps at all anymore, so I have a pact with a friend where we have about 4 mags for each type of rifle we own which we disassembled, heavily CLP'd, then vacuum sealed and actually have stored at the other guys house. That way, if your house gets ransacked 10 years from now, or burns to the ground, assuming a world where you can still get AR's, etc..., but only 10 round mags, you'll have a bare minimum of at least 4 hi-caps to go with your replacement rifle. My advice, stash a few at a friend/relatives house if your house winds up in a bad way. |
