Wow, what a friggin' piece of artwork!
I had the chance to shoot one of these this past weekend at the Ducks Unlimited Outdoors Festival in Oshkosh Wisconsin. Whoa! Too sweet! Nearly 5 thousand dollars of rifle and scope in my hand. 5 shots at 100 yards and each shot was almost where I placed them. The reason it was almost was because hundreds of rounds had been put through the rifle before I touched it. I could feel the heat radiating off the bbl. So I would assume that to be the reason for the shot placement a little high and to the right.

While I like the rifle, I caouldn't justify the cost. However, I can get my hands on a M1A "loaded" for $1600.00. I'm thinking long and hard between that and picking up a Armalite .223 and a L1A1 or the M1A.

IMHO thats a lot of money for a target rifle that I would be using at 600 yds (at the absolutemaximum) and less.  You are on the right track by getting an M1A from Springfield. It will provide you with years of enjoyment just as mine has.  Come visit us in the M1A/Garand board where there is a ton of information about these amazing rifles.

I agree with Hoplite, the M1A is a great weapon. I want to get one myself especially after shooting Hoplite's M1A last month, it was a mighty fine weapon in every respect.
