I recently purchased an older Beeman R-1. Since the rifle is about 25 years old, I would like to disassemble, clean, and relube/ grease the rifle. I may even upgrade with a Maccari tune kit. Unfortunately, I cannot acomplish this without a spring compressor. Does anyone have any recommendations for a spring compressor. Are there commercial models available? Does anyone have plans if I built my own? I did some searching, and I found a few U tube videos. Some of them did the job but were crudely constructed. I am a cabinet maker, so if I build one, it will most likely  look like a piece of furniture. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just did a google on air rifle spring compressor and saw a number of pictures an you tubes on there use. You should be able to cobble one together from the info just be careful I broke down my Beeman P1 a few years back an those are some powerful springs and I know the R-1 has a much more powerful spring in it. Good Luck

I made one using a pipe clamp.  Almost didn't have enough threads on the clamp to fully release but it got the job done.  I made some plates out of wood that slipped over the pipe at each end of the clamp.  The plates had recesses to keep parts from slipping off. Have to be careful the clamps don't rotate on you though.  I used mine on a Tech Force 89.
