Well I was out this past weekend just shooting off a couple of hundred rounds, and then it happened. What causes this to happen? Should I have it looked at (my AR)? I didn't shoot it after it happened, it really suprised me actually.

Kinda odd for a 15, but maybe your firing pin is busted, sticking out a little or something. Pull it apart and check the pin. The bolt might be gunked up. I'd check the pin first of all and the bolt face. You probably have a messed up firing pin....I think..lol....those damn things can be dangerous. When I got my M1A, they gave me a paper explaning slam fires and the danger in them. Good luck.

EDIT: Heres a link to another topic addressing slam fires, it will explain a lot to you. Scary eh?
