OK Ive got 5 Rifles that have cheap or no scope on them at all.Ive been swapping scopes around depending on the season and what rifle I want to use.Im tired of it.Black Powder Deer starts here tommorro and I had to pull a Tasco off one to put on my BP so that means Ill have to sight it in before I can do any hunting tommorro.Ive decided to put off buying anymore firearms till I get a few good scopes bought. Now the rifle that I need to scope first would be Interarms Mark X in 300 Win Mag,then my Thompson Encore 50 Cal and my DPMS flattop AR.All of my rifles have good rings and bases.Mostly Leupold split bases but a few have Burris setups on them. Now Ive allways went with Tasco or Bushnell because of the price.I wont own a Simmons so there out. What Im wanting is a Decent scope for less than 200.One that Ill keep if I deceide to sell the rifle its on. I have the Mark X narrowed down to a Leupold Vari X1 3x9,a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9,an older Redfield 3x9 or a Weaver V10.Im not crazy about the Leupolds. The ones I can afford anyway. The Nikon is more to my liking and I know nothing about the V10 but from what Ive heard it seems like a decent scope for the money. For the Encore I was thinking about a BSA Deerhunter 3x9 or the trusty old Tasco 3x9 but am open for suggestions here. I really need help with my AR.At this time it has a 3x12x42 Tasco on it.Its been a good scope and I shoot it the most.Id like to invest in a decent or better scope for it without breaking the bank.If the Weaver V10 turns out to be a decent scope I may put one on it also. So what do you guys think?Theres alot of good scopes out now and its getting confusing real fast.Someone straitin me out.Thanks,45B10 |
| I have Burris scopes on all of my scoped rifles,For your Encore, I think I'd go with the Tasco,I've never heard anything good about BSA scopes,On my target Ar (22" douglas S.S. bbl) I've got a Burris Fullfield 6.5x20x50 A.O. Mil -Dot reticle it's not cheap, I bought this one on sale from midway, (I think I paid $389.00 or something like that,) usual price is $450.00, But, I have shot this rifle out to 500yds(with, of all things, 53gr bullets) and this scope performed very well, accuracy was, excellent once I got a handle on the wind, I'd look around in the pawn shops for a used scope sometimes you'll find a real bargin, Nikons are supposed to be good scopes for the money,I'don't know about the v-10's, you also might want to think about 50mm objective lens, lets alot more light in and you get a much better picture, also consider recoil, alot of cheaper scopes won't stand up to the pounding that .300 will dish out, so keep that in mind, Midway has in the recent past had 3x9x50 Burris Fullfields on sale for $189.00 so keep your eyes peeled, there are still some bargins out there,I'd also check with Midsouth, Natchez shooters supply, and see what they have on sale in the scope dept right about now, (Sorry I don't have they're url's) But, take your time and look around, there's alot of scopes out there, read up a little on scopes, the more you know, the better decision you can make..... |
