I need to replace my old Lee Plastic funnel that I have been using for .223 as it has started to
spill powder because it doesn't fit the case as tight as it should. I never noticed it spilling this bad before with .223, maybe I worn it out.

Anyway, I was looking around and a lot of people like the Satern Aluminum and bras Powder funnel.

Anyone have one? Like it?

They're not as smooth as I expected, but they work great.  Would buy again.

I use Satern funnels for .223 and .30 caliber.  They are very nice in that they are caliber specific and the lower portion fits over the case neck and stays put rather than having that tapered portion that tries to fall off.  Also being metal they do not have a static problem.  The downside

is that they are metal and you cannot see the powder.  Coarse powder can bind up in the bottom of the funnel and not drop.  I typically mess up one or two loads in a batch this way.  For fine powders or ball powders there is no problem.  I much prefer the Saterns to a plastic funnel.

I have a Saturn for my 6.5.  When I pull it off the top of the case, the case sometimes hangs on and then falls off. This is irritating.

I bought these a while ago:

They work better, look cool, and added more debt to my credit card.

They sure do look cool, the design makes sense so they probably work quite well, love the color coding . . . but that gorgeous rack of 4 funnels costs $140. Sorta makes one think twice lol.

You could buy an aluminum funnel and turn your own neck extensions on a lathe.

Cut top off old 223 case, and JB WELD it into mouth of funnel,, the case being charged will index inside the old case remnant.. that what I did to an old RCBS funnel, as 22 case mouth would even fit through hole of new RCBS funnel I bought

See case epoxied into funnel -

Allow end of case mouth to barely stick through, then after all set up, us a chamfer tool or counter sink to blend case mouth with funnel if needed -

They look pretty sweet.

Might be able to use the cut off ends of arrow shafts too on an existing cheap funnel.  I'm sure a bow shop can give you a fist full of aluminum arrow shaft cut offs despite the trend of modern arrows being of super plastics now.  Some of us old bastards still use aluminum shafts....at least until they're used up.

I recently bought one after putting off for awhile.   Powders like H335 stick where the collar and funnel meet.   It was irritating enough for me to throw it away and go back to the RCBS green one.

I just used epoxy putty.  Mix it, put it in the bottom the funnel then push through a loaded or dummy round coated with a light coat of oil.  A little oil on the inside of the funnel will keep it from sticking.  It sets up quick but before it fully hardens trim the excess at the bottom with a blade.  Pull the round out and trim around the hole with a xacto blade leaving no burrs so powder flows in smoothly.  It is caliber specific and a nice tight fit.  I can email a picture, photobucket has been a PITA to use lately on my computer.

Yeah, what the hell is up with Photobucket, Glad it's just not Me.

I looked at those Saterns, the other ones seem nice, but just too much money.

worst funnel ive ever used, i bought one in 25cal and the mating of the brass mouth and the aluminum funnel was horrible. It was basically a ledge powder would hang up on. Tried again with the 204 and a 30 cal wasn't as bad but still not good. I just ended up using epoxy to smooth the transition.

I love mine.
Started with the 22cal, and bought a 30 when I started 300blk.

I made one up using a Lee universal charging die I got on a clearance rack and a Forster Blue Ribbon funnel.

It's great on compressed "C" loads but it's also nice to just pop it on a single stage, insert the shell, drop the lever and dump right in. Makes an air tight seal in the up position and I can use it on any caliber I reload for with the interchangeable inserts. I like it better then funneling into a loading block.
