After about 2 months, I finally was able to take the SVT out to the range and problems started right away. The rod/pistol seems to be getting stuck which prevents the bolt from closing. I disassembled the rifle, put plenty of lube on it and by simply dropping the rod into the hole it gets stuck pretty tight. So, either the edge of the rod (about 1-2 inches down) is worn and its getting wedged or the rod is okay but the hole has gotten worn and causing the rod to get wedged and stuck. Anyone have this problem? If its the rod, were to get a new one. If its the hole, then is this rifle scrap? |

Can you tell if there's rust in there? Is it possible you were shooting corrosive that last time you went to the range and haven't cleaned it since? Edit: It looks like you've had some progress on your problem: p077.ezboard.com/fparallaxscurioandrelicfirearmsforumsfrm52.showMessage?topicID=5879.topic |

Yes, after doing some research it appears the rods where not assembled correctly. I will be testing it at the range tomorrow. This was the first time I have taken it to the range since it was purchased about a month or so ago. I wonder if the guy selling it did not know the rod was put in wrong and thought the rifle got too worn to work anymore and maybe this is why I got it for a good price. |
