How much would it cost to buy a nice Austrian STG58 kit?

And are Enterprise receivers any good?

About $300 and, imo, no.

If I were you, I'd stick w/a Imbel rec.

If you can find a STG 58 it will be $300 plus.

A good receiver are the Dan Coonan being sold by FAC. High quality, easy builds.

I used a DSA STG58 parts kit and an Imbel receiver (and the required US parts...).  The kit was on sale for $295 and is in excellent condition.

The rifle has worked flawlessly for hundreds of rounds and is a pleasure to shoot.

I purchased a STG-58 on a Enterpriss receiver. All matching numbers, great bore. Nice rifle overall, I paid 500 out the door.

Bah screw that... think i'll just sell the parts kit.   Just bought a PTR 91 so I really don't need another 308 battle rifle.

Also part of the receiver came with the kit.  Looks like it was chopped into 3 pieces.  One part is still on the barrel and another piece that goes on the lower part is in there and the middle piece is gone.  Is this normal or what?

Standard de-mill process.

Is the barrel pressed into the receiver or is it screwed into it?  Could I take it off with a vise and various tools?

bench & barrel vices & receiver wrench will unscrew her.
if you just want that nasty stub off, dremel thru the stub beteween the cocking handle slot  and the face of the receiver about 2/3 thru to the threads. BFChisel is inserted in the slot right behind where you dremeled. BFH pounds 1 or 2X and it'll pop & you can unscrew it by hand.
if you do nick the threads a bit it's still 100% usable, just affects resale a few%

OBTW coonan makes great type 1 receivers. built my first on one without a single hitch.
$200 + a wait from FAC or $250+/- from a couple other guys who get them faster & upcharge.
let us know in this forum if you are selling tho PLEASE
not that i have any gunmoney left
i DO have 2 more coonans en route now tho

edited for one more thought: it might be prudent to strip the LS, mag release/ BHO components and lose that center piece.
