Long story short, registered a AR10 lower as a SBR, got a different brand complete 12.5”upper and built it out once approved. Ultimately I wasn’t happy with the way the two mated, so got a matching lower and SBR’d it as well. Having returned the original lower to rifle status, I’ve decided I no longer really need or want it as I have too many 308’s to feed as it is. Have a friend interested in it, but want to “officially” remove it from the SBR status and ultimately my trust before doing such. Is there a form, just send in a request, just sell it as a rifle and do an updated amendment to the trust? |

There's no 'official' form for to send when returning a SBR to Title 1 status, but you can use a copy of this letter to send to ATF. https://blog.princelaw.com/2009/03/25/batfe-letter-requesting-removal-of-a-sbrsbs-from-the-nfrtr/ But know this, the gun is never truly "removed" from the registry, the registry is 'amended' to reflect the change. |
