I'm a BP novice and just bought my first two revolvers. While surfing around looking at suggested accessories, I saw a few pistol loading rests and tried to find one that I liked for sale. Unfortunately, the Traditions brand rest seems to be the only commercial option and has a lackluster design. The offerings from smaller shops seemed expensive for what you get or no longer being sold. However, I found a few helpful pictures on Etsy and Pinterest that got my gears turning. When I got home, I found a scrap of red oak and started mocking up around my '51 Navy. I still need to apply some Danish wood oil. Not sure but, I may cut the vertical and add a hinge so the whole thing folds flat for storage. I'm happy with the progress and will be excited to see if ends up being convenient on the range. | take a 1" or 1.5" bore or something similar and put a shallow hole right in front of the piece that is the pistol butt brace, doesn't need to be deep, 1/4" is plenty. This will give you a convenient place to put the pistol balls while you are loading so they don't roll around all over the place. I think you did a fine job with this one. These certainly work and are quite helpful at the range. |
