I just got a parts kit and I have some questions I haven't been able answer in my searches.  First of all I believe my kit is a stg58 with a wooden stock and pistol grip.  It has a bi pod and the GI (I think) removable flash hider.

First question is when puting the flash hider on is there a latch or something? It has an arrow pointing where to twist but it will not twist enough to lock on or to put the solid part (no slots)on the bottom?

Also I'm hearing alot about the 922 law which requires American parts, but I thought it only applied if you start modifying it from original, like an sks.  Is it because it is modified by puting the reciever in it?  Also, If I were to buy one how do I know if it has the required amount of parts?

Thanks for any input.
I'm sure I'll have alot more questions later

Do what 1811gnr says and "Get thee to the FALfiles".

Unless you find an Imbel receiver, the US made receiver will count as 1 US part.  You'll need six I think as you don't have a muzzle device.  Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I typically use, TAPCO gas piston, Falcon Arms hammer/ trigger/ sear, US made pistol grip (several options available) and sometimes - either DSA or Penguin Handguards.

There are several companies that make compliance parts, TAPCO, DSA, FSE, Falcon Arms.  The Gunpartsguy is a good source of compliance parts.

Some other parts available are floor plates and followers for the mags (2 parts) handguards, pistol grips, stocks, receivers, FCGs, bolts and carries, gas pistons, barrels, lower receivers.

What you use depends on your taste and pocket book.

Good luck and post pictures.
