| Does anybody make a powder cop that gives an audible warning rather than something you need to watch? It needs to be able to work on a Hornady LnL AP. |
|
Adding a small microswitch and a piezo buzzer to a cop die shouldn't be too difficult.
Something like this maybe. |

RCBS makes a powder lock out die, locks up the press if it doesn't detect powder. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=536792 |

How does this work, How can it stop my press ram from coming back down and indexing to the next station? The die has a center rod that must be lifted to the right height by the powder (user-adjustable) before it will allow the case mouth to enter the die. It locks up the press on the up stroke (handle being pulled down). I suppose if you wanted to, you could ignore the fact that you couldn't complete the ram travel, come back down, index, and keep going - but if you're not going to catch that, a little buzzer isn't going to help you much, either. Watch a good demonstration of the lock-out die here and here |

Quoted: I agree that this is the best method. All the other methods either require you to watch a stick moving, or require you to ignore the buzzer SOMETIMES. That's just silly.Quoted: How does this work, How can it stop my press ram from coming back down and indexing to the next station?
