I recently bought my wife a new Walther (S&W) PPK/S for self defense and we’re having an issue with the slide not returning all the way forward every few rounds.  Essentially what is happening is it will fire a round and chamber the next but the slide will stop just short of full forward but it will move the rest of the way with just a little pressure from behind.  This doesn’t happen all the time but it is often enough to shake my wife’s confidence in the gun.  I’ve only tried two types of ammo in it.  It absolutely hates hollow points and jams every few rounds and the slide issue happens with the factory American Eagle .380 that I’ve been running.   Any thoughts?

Does it happen when you shoot it? If not then, my quess would be that your wife is limp wristing. How many rounds through the pistol? Many need 2-250 rnds to break in. Ammo what type/brand are you using? Some american 380 is not too hot, Get some quality European 380, it tends to be a little hotter.

There are several possible problems.
However you have a bigger one:  The S&W PPK pistols have been recalled by S&W for a dangerous safety defect.

You need to return the gun for a replacement safety.
While it's there, complain about the jamming problem and have them fix it.

Details on the recall are on the S&W site:

Thanks for heads up.  I'll let Smith deal with both problems.

And ^THAT^ is why I love this site above all others. Everything that
