[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Ops Inc 12 problem

I have an Ops Inc muzzle brake with collar I was thinking of getting rid of, but I can't seem to remove the thread protector. Any ideas without marring up the protector? I've tried a little heat and penetrating oil.
