| I picked up a bunch of barrels from a local shop yesterday, and was going through them. I think I found an M1 barrel. It is marked on one side of the barrel towards the muzzle "Excel/Gardner, MA." Back on the chamber end is an SA with an F then 7 digit number. A bit of space, and then a 1 54. So is this a Springfield barrel made in Jan 1954?? Is that the usual location of such info? The outside shows some wear but all threads look decent. The Barrel looks dirty, but hopefully not rusted (some of the others have been), and appears to be in pretty good condition. I may have to keep this one as a replacement for my Greek RG M1 if it ever wears out. I'd say it's about 23-24" in length, and I think that's also normal. Anyone have any info for me?? Thanks. |
