I'm getting a Socom for Xmas so I'll watch your post real close and see what I can learn. I know I want the ARMS #18 and a regular scope. I'm looking for the mount right know.

I am thinking medium height ARMS #22 rings are as low as you can go.

I read another post on here where low mounts were too low and medium height mounts were suggested. Are you planning to install another scope base? I noticed that scope has only 3.6" eye relief. It's probably a dumb question since you asked about removing the front mount (you can by removing the allen screws tha attach it).

Why are you putting a scope that big on a Socom? I'd go with a 1.5x5 or a 2x7. That scope would work better on a full size rifle.

I wanted mil dot and I wanted a variable and I didn't want a huge objective lens. This one just kinda jumped out at me after looking at many many many scopes.

I just think it will unbalance what is supose to be a "handy" rifle.
