Ok, I have a baffling situation here. I have a 10.5" noveske barrel with switchblock and spikes BCG and I didn't have any issues for hundreds of rds until a few weeks ago. I was at the range and it was shooting fine both in-suppressed and suppressed. I put it down for a while and shot a few other guns. When I picked it back up it would not cycle. Single shot only with and without the can on. So I figure it's just dirty. Take it home clean the crap out of it(except the switchblock). Back out to the range still won't cycle. This week I take the switchblock apart and clean the crap out of that. Tonight I hit the range with not a speck of carbon anywhere on the rifle. Still won't cycle. I had my RRA rifle w/ me and on a whim I swapped BCG's. The RRA bolt functioned perfectly in the 10.5 and the spikes bolt would not cycle in the RRA. I inspected the spikes bolt and the key is still staked and not loose whatso ever. I have no clue what the prob is. I guess a further step would be to swap just the bolts.
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks |
| Thinking some more, could this be a head space issue? If it is, why would it have such a sudden onset? I would think it would not function at all. And to further explain not cycling, it pushes the bolt back just a tad. I don't think it's even enough to take it out of battery. Very puzzling. |
| AH! May have found the prob...comparing the two BCG's side by side, I never knew that the carrier key actually had a hole that went down through the carrier. Looking at the spikes there is a chunk of something blocking the hole. When I get home in a few min I will take my picks to it. Usually I put a pipe cleaner w/ hoppes in the key but I have been out for a while. That may have helped. |

Yeah i figured it was a lucky shot, at least in the fcg it wouldnt be too hard to get it out. Picks wouldn't work so I had to lightly take a drill to get it out. I use the federal 200rd bulk packs. It's not the first blown primer I've had with this ammo. That is funny...I've shot a bunch of federal, and have never had a blown primer with it. They should have the crimp ring if I'm not mistaken. |
