I have a Sig P220 with smooth front strap. I currently use skateboard tape for better grip but still not happy with grip control. Has anyone applied a ' stippling ' using marinetex or something ? I hesitate to have the weapon professionally stippled as it is currently Robarred finished and do not want to have to recoat. Any help would be appreciated.

It may not be what you are looking for, but I have used a Hogue grip on a P220 and the difference was amazing...

I have used the finger grooved Hogue and did not like it. With the lack of response I believe that either a total stipple job and recoat or more tape is inorder.

Thx

Another option is some really coarse wet or dry sand paper.
Cut to fit under the grips to retain it, or even glue on with some glue.
Cheap, easy to replace, and if it's too coarse, easy to go to a finer grit.

I once saw a National Match 1911 with a coat of epoxy and sand.
The owner said he applied a coat of epoxy, then before it set up he sprinkled fine sand on it, and pressed it in slightly.

Yet another option is the original "Glock sock" which was a section of bicycle inner tube stretched over the grip.
Sounds dumb, but worked well enough several grip makers make finger groove fancy versions.

Thx to those helpful suggestions. I believe I will stay with coarse tape and use $ for more ammo.
