a way to securely mount/carry my carbine or shotgun on my molle pack (RAID, 3-Day), say on the left side while the weight of mags on the right side will balance out the pack.  I have seen photos in the past of velcro straps (I think) but can't find them now.  I figured you guys would know of a technique or a specific item to do the trick.

thanks

Try Gear Sector. Check out the ASP-V sling. Should do what your looking for & offer some other options later, if you change things.

What you saw was probably something built into the pack, such as on TAG's sniper pack:

But if nothing else that should give you an idea of way to rig up an attachment.  Basically just need a pocket at the bottom for the stock to sit in and a strap at the top to hold it in place.  Running a grimlock through the MOLLE webbing will be a very secure yet non-permanent way of attaching the straps to the webbing.  www.supplycaptain.com sells nylon webbing and plastic hardware including grimlocks if you decide to DIY the thing.

Speaking of TAG, you could also maybe rig something up using one of these:  www.tacticalassaultshop.com/cgistore/store.cgi?page=/new/product.html&setup=1&ida=197&idp=14&his=0|14&cart_id=7867431.900  That around the handguards just in front of the receiver and some kind of pocket at the bottom to hold the stock should work.

Thanks for the Images, links, and help guys.  I really like the weapons catch.  Hoplophile and others, what do you think of using a weapons catch at the top (mid handgaurd)  and bottom (extension tube/receiver area)?  Ofcourse that leaves a large amount of weight on just two molle straps.

For the Pouch at the bottom of it sort'a looks like a ammo pouch out of a range bag.  Don't really know how I would mount it.

thanks again

I wonder if something like a maxpedition RollyPolly would work at the bottom.

Not a bad idea at all, Hoplophile.  I have a rollypolly some where.  will try to find it and give this a try.  Only concern is the weight on the bag.  Good thing is I would only need one weapons catch, $$$.  I do think that the weapons catch (x2) will work, but cost is an issue and I think I have a rollypolly already.  will post once I get this together, probably after the holidays.

thanks
