I have a number of SBRs and cans. Some registered to me, some to a trust that also includes my wife (nobody else). I gave up on the trust a few years ago when the transfers were taking literally 2 years. But it seems like now is the time to move everything to the trust given it is essentially free, and approval times are much better (not that it matters for items I already own). I assume the best way to do this is to somehow obtain EFT files for me and my wife and then just start filing one item at a time. Does this sound right? I've used SS for personal transfers w/in the last year but don't have an EFT for either of us. Does SS have the option to do transfers to a trust with more than one responsible person? Or should I look at one of these other EFT services (or do something different)? One other random question, my address has changed since the original trust (same city, same zip, just a few miles away). I've never "officially" updated it beyond just an addendum in my paperwork. I have registered items to the trust with the new address and nobody seemed to care. Anyway, if some more official update is needed, it seems now is the time before I move a bunch of stuff to the trust. Any advice is appreciated! |
| Just did this with my NFA Trust. Find a place to get you EFT'S and use eForms to transfer everything into your new trust. Address doesn't matter. I moved a silencer from a SS Single Shot Trust that had my previous address in TN to my NFA Trust that I have in MS. eForms is stupid easy and you can now transfer item's yourself. There's several video's on youtube on how to do it. Hope this helps. |

Can you transfer from one trust to another via eForms? I seem to recall last year you could not; had to be paper. I have one item on a single shot trust I'd like to transfer to my trust with everything else. Do I just use the eForms form 4 or do I have to print and mail a hard copy? Thanks. |

That's exactly with I did.After Jan 1 2026 you can do individual to individual transfers through eForms.I moved a silencer from a single shot to my regular NFA trust. The "Transferor" is your single shot trust and the "Transferee" is your NFA trust. Took 7 days for the eForm 4 to come back approved. |

You know stuff might change next administration making it harder to transfer things. So now is the time to do it. I had a new trust made with a simple name that is easy to engrave. You might want to do the same and just move everything into that one. I have about 15 items in my original and about 3 item on individual stamps and 1 new SBS. So for me the new SBS was "made" in the new trust so the engraving was short. The 4 items will get moved to my original trust eventually (soon). But If i was moving a lot of what i had i would probably move everything to the new trust. |
