My magazine release/hold no longer wants to work proper;y. It will lock the mag in place a couple times then on the next insert it will not hold & the mag will fall right out. If I tap it in a bit it will hold, but again only for 1-2 more tries. Then the small phills screw on the other side fell out a few minutes later & it will not screw back in.

Has anyone else had this issuse? If so, how did you fix it? As of now, this is a $500 paperwight.

Had you disassembled the gun previously?

Interesting. I was just looking at my magazine holding apparatus today because my bolt hold open feature has become intermittent. The only thing I could see that was possibly wrong was that the magazine was not locking securely in place and pushing up firmly on the hold open plate. I tightened the small screw a little, but no improvement. My magazine seems awfully loose just lately. Think I'll re-enable the magazine safety and see if it changes things. You can get that screw back in - keep trying and don't lose it in the carpet. Is your magazine safety intact?

Only the standard disassemble to clean it & the mag release was not part of that.

Plenty of spring tension on the retaining device? Tried different magazine? Could be wear I guess, but that seems awfully premature.

Spring tension is good. I only have 1 mag & I've had this firearm for less than 1 month & it's only been to the range twice.

No one else hs had this issue?

I contacted ATI & was told they will send me whatever part(s) I need, but AFAIK, the whole lock/release assembly is defective based on what mine is doing.

I would go with getting a new Magazine Catch Part Number 15 [402.20.04.1]; to me it sounds like yours is worn, so it will not always engage the magazine properly to lock it into place. That's where I would start if I was having your problem. In fact, being plastic, I think I am going to get one just in case it does get worn, or break, along with another Part Number 19, Magazine Release Lever [402.20.08.1]... gotta make up a list of "survival repair parts"...
