| seems to happen alot with some stuff. it can be cosmetically flawed and so expensive they dont care at all, rather odd. like someone with a 140k car and its on the lot scratched and you tell a salesperson who in turn seems to not care and doesnt even say "we can have that repaired" |

Quoted:
Nope. Talked to him about five minutes about it. A crap was not given. That deserves the " "That's nothing! Look at the huge hole in the hand guard just behind it! How did the factory let that out the door? I hate to break it to you but the sales guy was probably laughing at you. Both the hole and the bevel are for the grenade launcher. Mine has the exact same "flaws". |

Obvious, un-intended, ragged-edged chip

Obvious, un-intended, ragged-edged chip ![]() I don't see a "ragged-edge chip" in your pic, just the bevel at the bottom front corner of the rail. I must be looking at the wrong place. Can you draw an arrow or something? |

That's where I thought you were referring to.
Its for the grenade launcher. Its not symmetrical. It does look a bit odd. On mine, it doesn't remotely resemble a "ragged-edge chip"; it's nicely machined and polished, though your photo is blurry enough that this is not apparent. Still, how you could mistake it for a chip is beyond me. |

| Only because the photo is so blurry. In person, this area is perfectly straight across, radiused at the inside corner, and nicely polished. I can see how a commenter here could be fooled, but not the OP who said he examined this spot for several minutes. I've got a macro picture of mine but my PC's WiFi is dead so I'll try to upload it tomorrow. not much fun commenting on the boards on a cell phone. |

That one definitely looks to be there by design. |

Several minutes my ass. Dude quit your trip on making me look like I'm stupid.
Let me rephrase my previous statement for the one who needs clarification. "I talked to the salesman about five minutes, after bringing it to his attention. He had no clue about anything." That doesn't mean I concentrated on the HK for five minutes, as I really don't care for it anyway. I've wasted more time on one guy coming in my thread and being smart. I thought I saw a defect, through a case window, couldn't see the radius and do not ask for it to be removed for me to finger-bang... I thought it was something and I was wrong. Didn't care too much, just that if it were a defect on a $3k rifle that would suck. Do a quick google search and you'll find that there have been others think the same thing. Now quit bashing and gfto |

Now quit bashing and gfto Wow.....people come in here to let you know what the purpose for the notch is, and you tell them to GTFO. You were ignorant of the purpose of the notch, and started jumping to conclusions. Now you know what it is. What's all the butthurt for? |
|
I don't mind being corrected at all. Just not in a snooty manner.
I'm not butthurt, but I am irritated at the remarks. He was being smart from the get-go, and I didn't like it. I simply conferred my opinion that he should try to not be so smart and maybe just help someone understand. The picture I took is pretty accurate to the lack of detail I could see from the angle and window. Not a big deal if someone tells me I am wrong and what it's for without being smart about it. I am glad I learned something new. It's cool they thought that into their design. Okay. Having no prior experience and not being informed about it beforehand, no person would see what I saw and not think something was defective. |
