If they manufacture less than 50 firearms per year, they'll be exempt from FAET.
Most 07 FFL's who build MP5's probably are only willing to work with certain flats, and more likely to steer you towards their complete receiver instead (which is probably a better idea anyway). If you plan to make it NFA, I'd request it be built as a pistol and sent to your local FFL as a Title I firearm for you to Form 1 later. They'll also have no concerns building it with all German parts, since pistols aren't subject to 922(r). |
