Decided to make an attempt at rattle can M81. Initially I attempted to make my own stencils as I didn't want to spend the money on freedom stencils. The concept was painter's tape on wax paper, then draw and cut out shapes. However, it took like 5 minutes to get half the wax paper off of 1 small shape so I abandoned that idea. Ended up ordering some off Etsy and they worked well overall. Some edges seemed to come up, so I did get some blurred lines. Wish I maybe did a little more tan, but I am happy with it overall, especially for my first time using stencils and doing a pattern. | I didn't want super small shapes as I wanted to scale to be similar to my jackets and plate carrier, etc. However, if I were to redo it I would likely use some more or bigger stencils on the tan (field drab), and maybe the brown. I let it cure roughly 24 hours between adding stencils and the next color. I just did the green about 3 hours ago, so I'll let hang with extra heat in my basement bathroom for another day or 2 before building it out (11.5" build). |
