Is there a source for Sig 55x mags? I have a 551A1 I bought years ago. I have some, but I would like to get some more mags for it. Haven’t had any luck at all finding any. Kinda wishing I had bought more from Sig back in the day. Or otherwise, has anyone found a mag suitable to convert? |

As far as I know there are no other alternatives, tough to find under 70 bucks a piece. I lucked out a couple years ago and a LGS had a Sig section and behind the 522 mags were 30 round 5.56 mags, bought all 4. Gunbroker isn't going to be any better than any other place you may find them, I have noticed they come in spurts, so you may luck out and get some in the 60 dollar range. Post WTB on EE, maybe someone got rid of their rifle and has some mags still. |

Pony up and pay for whatever you can find in stock. There is a guy out of Canada who offers a kit to use AR mags in the Swiss mag lower. It consists of an adapter that is installed on the lower receiver’s lip for the magazine’s front locking lug, and a Jig to cut the interface for the magazine catch. The steel front retaining lug would likely chew up the aluminum lower and would require a steel insert as was done on the 556R lower. One could instead buy a 556R lower to use Galil or 5.56 AK mags. |

Preston precision I’ve never even heard of them but they seem to be the US dealer for these, everything else was in Switzerland. Has to be better than gunbroker! They are about the same price as factory at JDI but are hopefully actually in stock and I wanted to see if they were any better material or at least comparable to factory. Generally the tabs are more annoying than useful as well so some mags without that feature are welcome. |

But, if you go through their chronicle, you will also find an AR15 Lower. However, no magazine clones, and if so, then more likely on an AR basis. The second entry leads us to Asia, because an entry on Bloolmberg refers to: Dominion Defense & Industries Sdn Bhd, Malaysia. Your line of business is apparently marine and defense products, whatever that means. But they don't seem to have any magazine clones in their portfolio. If you dig a little deeper into Google, Dominion Arms suddenly appears. Here, too, a website is available, but in fact unusable. The Dominion Arms Grizzly Shotgun is well known, and AR magazine clones can also be found in Canadian shops . NORINCO Kalashnikovs, P226, 1911s, AR-15s and various hunting shotguns are commonplace on the market. Why not the Stgw90? Or magazines for it? It is therefore quite obvious that the magazine comes from China. |
