Really really strange question. I need to store my guns for a couple years becasue of a move. No one will be touching them (aka no cleaning) while they are in storage. What do you suggest I do to them before storage, and what should I store them in? |

cosmoline. don't know where you get it tho. I should think you'll be fine with a light coat of oil so long as its a dry storage place. Will the storage location have electricity for a dehumidifier and a drain for the water? That would really set you up nice. I think for really long term storage, where you were not sure about humidity, it might be good to take the metal parts off and put them in oil, and store the wood parts in some kind of air tight container. Sounds like overkill, though. ETA do not store them in standard gun case type foam. I made that mistake...ONCE. |
You will most likely end up with a rusty gun. To the OP: Will your storage area be somewhat climate controlled? Up here in northern MN we have to deal with a very strange phenomena while storing things outside in the cold, frost!. Its amazing how a completely clean and dry storage area will end up covered in frost when it gets cold outside and the next thing you know, you have rusty or molded effects....![]() Turk |
