I have 500 of the M196 tracers from Hi-Tech ammo. Who has loaded these before and what type of powder worked best for you? I was looking at the WC 844T, there are other powders I can use right?

You can use any rifle powder for it that works for .223.  The hotter the powder though the more likely it'll light.  I get good lighting with 2230.

I've loaded several with regular WC844 and had good results.

Another question. These are listed as 54 grain, none of my books list a 54 grain bullet. Do I use the recipes for 55 grain?

Yes, work up from the starting load, watching for pressure signs.

TAC seemed to light quite a few of them for me.
