Anyone else play around with these just for fun? They're extraordinarily impractical and slow. My 2 problems with them, they dont have a mouth flaring tool for rifles if you want to load cast projectiles and the cases are garbage. Well organized sure, but they dont stay shut. Anyway am I the weirdo here that still finds them fun and interesting.

I bought a 308w set early 90's for iirc $20 +s&h with the thoughts of putting it and components in bob so if tshtf I'd be gtg  hahahahaha.After putting loader, 1lb powder, primer sleave & 100ct bullets in a bag to carry in bob. I said fuckthatshit, I can carry 200+rnds of loaded ammo in that bag & put into bob. Never used it, just threw the loader in a box of extra reloading gear. |

| I have used my 7.62x54R one more than I care to admit. Knocking out a couple of rounds for hunting or to try something has worked out well for me. Not sure about the boxe/case complaint though, mine are different, and work fine, although when they come with me the loader and parts is wrapped in a cleaning cloth. |

I have about 8 sets for my main calibers. About a year ago loaded 25 rounds of 357. They shot just as well as rounds loaded on SDB. When I was a kid, I helped/watch my day reload. Years later first rounds I loaded was 30-30 on the kitchen table. Started looking for a reloading set up and a friend sold me his for $40 (1976) |

One of those things i have thought would be cool to have for some crazy imaginary reason. But every time i go to buy one i come back to you are never gonna use it. A 550 is slow to me now my rockchucker is insanely slow. Time is one thing u can’t make more of. But you can buy it with equipment that makes the process faster. To each their own…. At 56 id rather spend my time shooting than making the process of loading take longer |

The first time I ever saw anyone reloading was with one of those in the early 70s when I was a little kid. A guy hunting with us had forgotten to put his belt slide with ammo on. It wasn’t in the little .mil tool bag either. Says he must have left it on the dresser. He drops the tailgate, He reaches in, and pulls out what looked like a leather, zippered pipe tobacco pouch. I grew up rural and still a lot of pipe smokers around when I was a kid. It has some 30-30 brass, that little kit, a little funnel, and some of those little plastic 35mm plastic film containers in it. And a tiny spittle pill tin with some primers in it. It was absolutely fascinating to watch. I had never seen anyone reloading. He tapped out primers on three cases, tapped in each primer, then used the little funnel and poured in the powder from the film case. (Said he measures the powder into each film canister.) It looked like he had enough brass, little ziplock of bullets, film cases, for about a dozen rounds in there. But he got done with the three, loaded his gun, and said he was good. Now, it sure would have made more sense to have a box of 20 rounds in his bag, or not forgotten his belt slide with ten rounds or whatever- But I was in awe. I have them for .225 Winchester and 30-30. |
