Hey

I like to share this setup with you...

Thoughts behind the setup:
I hunt deer and hog's in Denmark and Sweden - I walk a lot of ground and have a need of a minimum of gear at hand.

I tried various packs, but I put to mush stuff in it and I had the need to have my back free when I'm sitting a treestand/shooting tower.
Also I need binoculars at hand to observe for deer doing my stalking.

Therefore I look in this forum, online and thought back to my time in the military.

I have now been using this setup for little over 6 mouth and I'm very happy.

The rig is a High Speed Gear AO Small Chest rig. On that I attached different pouches.
(Seen right to left)
WAS Medium utility pouch - Homemade "haley strategic" bungee utility pouch - BFG utility pouch - TT/Monkey Admin pouch - mini IFAK and custom made 1 liter bladder pouch for a Source bladder.

Other then that I have a pair of Mechanix Multicam Gloves, an additional magazine and a handwarmer from Husar Tactical (love this in the cold weather)
I also have a 35 liter pack that I'm using if I sleeping out or need an additional layer of warm clothes.

What do you think????

All you need to hunt is a rifle, thermos of coffee and ammo. The rest is B.S.

White tailed deer obviously.

Near home too.

A chest rig for hunting?  What are you hunting?

All you need is a small day pack for the essentials (TP, water, some food for lunch, a booboo bag, some spare ammo, a way to start a fire, a Leatherman and a pocket shelter) and a warm coat with a couple of deep pockets for a spare magazine, gloves and a hand warmer.  This is all I would carry even hunting with an AR.

Hey your pics aren't working - I'd like to see the set up.

Most Americans don't understand that hunting works a bit differently over in Europe than it does in the states. The reverse is, of course, also true.

The setup sounds interesting.

That might be all that you need in your specific location but that sure the shit wouldn't work in many other places.

Where is your spotting scope? Binoculars? Sharpening kit? Camp axe for breaking a moose pelvis? Spare socks? Sat phone? FM radio? Firewood? Coolers? Sleeping bag?

It worked well for me for hunting in the mountains and deserts of New Mexico for many years.  Even used it a Nevada a couple of times.  Forgot to mention a canteen cup and a spoon.  Might not work in the arctic, though.

Naw!  Too much weight!   I traveled light and fast!

Now if you are hunting in moose country, you might want to bring your pack mule or local Sherpa to carry all the extra stuff!

Never needed it and always got my deer - and got it out just fine.  Didn't have range finders in those days, just experience, good eye sight and my brain.  My spotting scope was my rifle scope.  For elk we horse packed in and got them out with pack mules.  Of course, that was over several days.
