Does anyone make an HK 416/M27 clone-ish lower...that doesn't cost more than a couple of complete rifles from PSA? Don't give a fuck about engravings so much, but the dimensions/profile? Brownells doesn't seem to have a BRN-4 lower anymore, so hoping someone else is cranking them out...just, can't seem to find one that isn't > $700 for a bare receiver. Thanks

Thanks GLWT, only current one I know is the Specialized Tactical Systems. It's a niche item so price reflects it. There 80% out there sometimes time but that has seemed to dry up. I'll see one for sale here or there but far in-between. I have 3 MR556's and 2 are from 80%. One of those is 416sf 11" done in burnt bronze. You might be better off using an AR lower that has no logos or such on it and having it done however you want. I believe PSA makes those and I believe my SOT does as well. I'd have to ask him if that is a direction you might consider. |

Yeah, I saw them and one or two others...I've just never done an %80 lower (I've got one of the 5d tactical jigs, router, etc for it - just never set it up or anything). I raided Brownells; for less than the price of a new MR556A4 I got a 16" upper, M27 barrel, stripped upper and all the build components, a 10.4" chromed line barrel for THAT stripped upper, and all the barrel parts on the way to me. So I "saved money" And shit I just realized I didn't get the barrel wrench to go with it all...

I am sure that’s what I used on mine. |

I could care less about the cerakote, but they should at least clear anodize and then coat over that...... |
| Very interesting, but I'm puzzled about their makers markings or lack of. I don't see them in the pics they provided. Even if you provide them a serial number, they still need the other required markings? And if one wanted to clone a 416, those markings take up a lot of real estate. If anyone grabs one of these I'd love to see pics of the end results. Too bad they don't have an A5 option. |

Gigliotti rifleworks makes a 416 lower, got one on order. Similar priced as the Illinois one, around $400, but they’re anodized. I sent an Email and they added SBR engravings for me, damned fine customer service. Lead time is the only thing, if they don’t have them in stock, or if you want something custom, it’s something like a two month wait. |

I didn't go with a clone lower, just with something that I could pass as one - for me it was truly the upper that mattered the most. SN to match my surplus 416D upper. Also going to get clone engraving at their suggested place. So hopefully it turns out good. FYI they now have M16 pockets cut, their old ones didn't and I specifically asked. They need to update the photos. |
