I have been working on some new hawks and decided to add some Viking runes on them. I will force age the steel before completion. Seeing as the inspiration for this design was a traditional Viking short tomawahk I think the runes will be a nice touch. Also, one of the goals was to keep it under 1 pound. Weighs in at 14.3 oz.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks. The symbols say Hildr (battle).  Hildr was one of the 12 valkyries. The single rune means tyr, or warrior.

These are 1/4" A2. 5.5" tip of spike to edge. 10" tall. Walnut handles. They still need to be heat treated but I wanted to go ahead and darken the steel and get a quick handle on one to see how it would look.

I have some distressed leather cord and copper or brass pins I am going to try and implement on the handles.

And I have a lot of coconuts here in Miami.

What will something like that retail for?

Ballpark.

He said $275 on Facebook. I'm sure there are things that can make that price vary.

ETA: "Thanks. $275, but these are all sold."

Nifty.

Would be a great size for a pack-hawk.

For real. I could cancel my chopper RFP and look into a Smithyhawk especially if the other steel options he's looking at includes S7/L6/3v/H13/4160

Thank you.

I have no clue when it comes to these custom knives.

The price seems reasonable, but I'll confine myself to my $50 Estwing Campers axe.

Good luck to those that get to buy one, as they look very nice.

I'm on the list for one of these. It'll make my second hawk from Smithy!

Thanks everyone. My hawk obsession has been burning for the last few years. So far I really like this design for a small hawk. As long as the owner/user  understands it is small and doesn't expect this thing to do what a Hawk that's twice as long and twist as heavy can do then I think owners of this hawk will find it to be a great hawk.

I was looking at L6 and CPM3V but decided to go with A2. I just felt for the intended use for the hawk that A2 will work wonderfully.

If It was a larger design and folks expected it to do what large hawks do (breaching/prying) I would have gone with 3V.

Before any go out the door I will be testing the first one. HARD! I think the A2 will perform to my expectations.

Thanks. I really like how they have turned out so far. I forced aged some knives this weekend and they turned out exactly how I want these hawks to look. Slightly pitted and darkened. I should get them back from Peters this week and will hopefully get a few finished by the weekend and test one. Stay tuned for test video!
