| Its about time for me to get a safe. I have a small safe that has important documents and my jewlery in it. I have a very large watch collection and like to keep a decent amount of cash on hand. My question is what safes do you all have and what would you recemond for me. I would like to keep my files, jewlery, cash and guns all in the same safe. I may not be able to bolt it down given the fact I will be renting for a bit when I move out of my house that I own now. |

Zanotti's are easiest to move, though the door is still heavy enough that you'll need a friend to help you move it & get it on. If you move frequently & have a lot of stuff, the Zanotti is probably a good choice, though it has thinner walls & the locking lugs are smaller diam. compared to "regular" safes'; cost is significantly higher also. I did a lot of research & decided on a Heritage, & bought the biggest model they offer. Read this article: http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BQY/is_1_49/ai_94765136 |
Sovereign, do you have one of these? How do you like it? I like the Idea of a safe that is bigger then the door it came in. IIRC StackOn safes can be opened by prying the top off. I could be wrong about that. |

I've got an Liberty Eagle 25 . I didn't buy it, I won it. If I wanted another place to put my guns, I'd buy what ever Liberty (or that style) had on sale. They're well made, and after watching 2 guys go at one for a demonstration, I'd buy another one if I had to do it over again.. (2 guys picked out of an audience had at it for 1hr with any tools they thought they'd need: drills, hammers, wedges, bars (no torches, tho)....never had the door more than 1/4" out of place. They even tipped it over and tried to go in from the bottom. Didn't make it in. Not many folks have 1hr to play when they're ripping you off. Not to say it won't happen, but.... It's getting a bit crowded inside this one......hint, hint... |
I'll bet ya I could get one open with the stuff I have at work. |
Oh, I'm sure of that. After being inside mine enough times, I've figured out how an honest to god Liberty Tech can drill them open. It does require a boroscope, but you won't destroy the safe either. The one I have has a glass plate and an armored plate in it, so drilling from the front is a waste of time. I'd just take a torch to it, maybe 20 minutes if I had it. Other than that, CO2 or LN and a large hammer. Crinkle/crunch. You're average intruder isn't going to carry much of that with them. But, they have to get past the 4" door w/4 locking bolts/ 4 independent mag locks to the room, to get to the safe. The bolts are fail safe and the mags are on a 2 battery back-up, so pack a lunch That's enough to thwart the most hardened criminalOh, and it's not for sale if I get the bigger one. That's why I'm hardening the rest of the room, so I can put some cheaper stuff on the walls, and leave the Good Stuff in the safe. Besides, I'd have to ship the safe by USPS, and you know what they charge for heavy stuff ETR an "oh". |
