Better yet, put a flash suppressor on it. In order to do that, you have to make it 922 compliant. I achieved that by using: US made mags A US made stock A US made upper handguard And the Bayonet lug/flash suppressor combo should be US made. That's what I did on mine. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g293/rx7turbo929/garand%20and%20ebr%20stuff/Picture060.jpg BTW OP, get you some 20 round mags. You will be glad you did. That's exactly what I did with mine. (Poly on top)

It's a side stamped receiver and the scope and mount are cheap ones not sure if ill keep them. A gi style flash hider with bayonet lug will be the first addition to the rifle . I really like the lighter colored stocks so I may look for one and ill pick up a few more 20 rd mags other than that ill leave it as is.
I was really surprised my realitive wanted to sell but he's always looking for the next project. Glad I made the deal its one sweet rifle |

Question, when did the 922 rule take effect? Was it after they stopped the importation of the Polytech M1As? If so, wouldn't it be grandfathered? |

I bought one for my youngest son a few years ago. Its a good shooting rifle. It was already in a GI synthetic stock, had a GI flash suppressor (with bayonet lug), a GI trigger group, etc. We put a GI bolt in it a few years back (H&R) just to make sure.
They can be really nice looking, really nice shooting rifles. |

As for the 922 rules, not that familiar with the history, just the requirements. Anything imported before the implementation of 922 would be grandfathered but I think it was implemented before they stopped bringing in before the ban on Polytech and Norinco M14Ss. |

AFAK All of the chicom's must be brought into compliance with the 922 R parts count. The are good rifles... Most are not project guns as many claim. Actually, unless you want a flash suppressor and bayo lug, you can leave them as is. I agree that they are good to go just as they are and they are not "project guns". |

| That mount looks like the one I bought from M&A parts years ago. I was always going to replace it, but it has never failed. Mine is only mounted with a single screw so you don't have to remove the stripper clip guide. All I have ever did was make sure it's tight before and after shooting. Has always held zero. I think I only paid $20.00 for it. |
