Thinking about building one of these buggers. Does anybody know of a good tutorial for building from a G3 flat? I can only find bits and pieces of info here and there. Are they much harder (or easier) than an AK build? How about 922 compliance parts? |
Actual Cetme compliance parts are almost impossible to find right now (if anyone knows otherwise, please feel free to chime in) You CAN use JLD PTR 91 compliance hammers, triggers and sears (if you can find them, JLD is out, along with the rest of their compliance parts IIRC) and put them in an G3 or HK lower (Cetme and G3 trigger packs are not interchangeable). Thermold mags (again, if you can find them)will be good for 3 U.S. parts. As far as building the thing yourself...I've never built one myself, but there seems to be a LOT of welding involved (cocking tube for example)and I personally couldn't see myself doing that kind of intricate work. |

I just finished my cetme build using a Century stainless cast receiver. I used a $200 HF tig welder for the welding. It was pretty easy. Once you understand how it goes together, its no harder than building an AK. It does have a big learning curve though. www.militaryfirearm.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=296 ]forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?t=2029] The guy who started this thread is making US trigger cages and disconnectors also. He's a good guy to do business with. www.prexis.com/sten/homebuilder/index.php?topic=66.0 I can't help ya with info. on building from a flat, don't know much about that. |
Yes I know of a guy on another forum who used a mig with no problem, so far he has 30 rnds thru his with no problems. He also used a steel receiver not a stainless cast receiver. I used stainless wire to tig my receiver to the trunnion. I just drilled holes in the receiver where the spot welds should be, and tigged it. |
