They could be free, but that does not change that it is going to be extremely hard to find a hazmat shipper in that guys area. Who knows what they would charge too. Possibly more than what you can buy them for new online. Just know, if they just put them in a box and ship them through the post office, fedex or ups, they are breaking federal law. So do not do it. As mentioned, the shipper has to be licensed to ship hazmat. Joes blows gun shop does not have this license. It would probably be easier to just drive out there and get them in person. |

Primed brass is legal to ship same as ammo. So if your seller would take the time to load each primer into case they could be legally shipped. Is it worth the time to do that? Probably not. So it would be easier to just pick them up in person. |

A hazmat license starts with a $6500.00 week long Fed class and a few thousand a year renewal. (Last time I asked a few years ago) Even the big reloading place here does not have one. You don't need one to receive primers but you must have one to ship them and the $250K fine and 10 years in jail could be considered a deterrent to slip under the radar. But hey $250K to save $50.00 might be worthwhile to some. FedEx, UPS etc do not have that license either so you can not ship with them unless you have that license. Forbidden territory IMO |

But OP isn't there, he's not the one actually doing anything. Apparently he got a great deal on primers, but seller is basically saying FOB, and on OP to figure how to get them. Which doesn't work, he's not there. unless they decide willimg to ship (which is no) or he arranges 3rd party to ship - which pragmatically is no, or he finds a friend willing to go and pick them up, which is his best route - if he actually can find a friend there to do it. Which will have a cost more than the primers. As to federal crime. ... sure. If you are commercially shipping primers for profit and a plane explodes from it, then yes, you will be in trouble. But in reality people ship stuff all the time.... oh I need a license for that? not saying I would or worth it, but yea. In this case, unless OP has a friend to call to go get them for him - for cheap or free, then this deal doesn't actually work. Sorry. |

What I read is you need is a UPS Account. Then you need a hazmat agreement. I think these are just paperwork. Then you need training. That look is like it can be done online for under $500. My employer offers it, but I have not taken it. Then you need to use UPS Worldship….which will charge you a $58 per shipment fee plus probably charge a small shipper UPS retail pricing which is like 3-500% of Pirate Ship. From what I can see, we would all have this if Pirate Ship upgraded to allow HazMat! We need to petition them! The entire reloading community shipping powder and primers would be a game changer! |
