I am registering a Benelli M4 on a form 1.  In section 4.a, what do I put for name and location of Manufacturer?  Benelli / Italy?

Thanks for the help..

If you are making/registering the firearm (SBS) then you are the manufacturer so it would be your information.

I don't have a SBR or SBS so I'm just passing along what I've heard on here before.  If you want to try this I'd call YOUR examiner and verify the info.

It seems that 99% of the people here, who have "made" a SBR/SBS on a Form 1 have listed their name, city and state as the manufacture and then had their information engraved on the receiver of the firearm.

HOWEVER, there are a couple of people on here who CLAIM that you do not have to do this.  Technically you are not manufacturing anything, just registering your firearm as a Title II weapon (in this case a SBS).  They listed the actual receivers manufacture in that field and apparently have had their forms approved.  This would eliminate the need for any engraving on your part.

I'm not arguing/supporting this...  Just passing it along.

ETA:  I'm trying to find the thread where the member posted that info.
Also, the BATFE likes to change policies like changing underwear so this may have been a fluke, if it actually happened at all.

I searched and there's probably 100 topics concerning SBRs and I'm not going to read each and every one of them to find that post.  Like I said above, call your examiner and find out what he/she says about it.

No, on a Form 1 you are the "maker" of the Title II firearm.

In this case, Benelli is the "manufacturer."  As for the location, look at the original engraving on the gun and you'll find a city and state (or country) info on it.  Use that info.
