I'm thinking about purchasing my first suppressor.  Eventually I will have at least 2 (rifle and pistol), unless the HPA passes.

For my first can I'm thinking about getting a 9mm.  I want something that can be used on pistols and carbines, specifically a Scorpion 9mm with a quick detach. Also, I want something durable enough to last a "lifetime" in case it is my only one.  What would you guys recommend?  I have considered getting a .45 can to increase its versatility, but I'm not certain how that would affect performance with a 9mm (the primary host caliber).  How much performance do you typically lose with an oversize suppressor?

Any suggestions?  Definitely want as quiet as I can get.

Dead Air Ghost M with 3Lug

Gemtech has the Lunar 45 but I'm not sure if the 3Lug is out yet.

Rugged Suppressors Obsidian 45

The new AAC TiRant Modular can is getting good reviews

Lots of choices.

Buy the 9mm now. If you get a 45 you will buy a 9mm down the road anyways.

The Ti-RANT 9M is a awesome can and also works well on a 22lr in short mode.

If you only think you want to get a pistol and a rifle.  Go 45  I did.  And I'm happy with the 45 on a 9mm with large grain bullets.   If you think you will never own a 45 or 40, then get a 9mm can.  9mm can will sound better than a 45 but not by much.   You will get several answers on the cans.   Having not taken possesion of my obsidian yet, I can't say but that's an option.   Rifle can.  Omega seems popular.   I have a saker and love it.   I also have an SDN6 but I think it's outdated (just because you can't use any other mounting option).  Still a great can for 308, 300 BO.      I'd think modular too.

Thoughts on a modular suppressor like the Optimus?  Would that be a good starting suppressor that would remain useful after getting dedicated pistol and rifle cans?
