My CO has tasked me with the idea of setting up an M249 competition that is more than just regular Army training. I ran an M16 one recently and he liked that alot.

My question is: What are some regular Full Auto competitions like? I have been at some USPSA (IDPA) type matches but have never seen a subgun or FA competition.

I would really like some input/info on scoring and possible courses of fire
Thanks in advance

The ones I attend and put on are just like IPSC match only with subguns on full auto.  Pepper Poppers and steel score easier and set up quicker between shooters.  Never put a paper target at the end of the run. Frustrated shooters will dump an entire magazine into it for revenge of thier poor performance and you will be replacing the target every run rather than just putting on 2 papers.

No shoot targets right behind knock down steel will make the shooters slow down and aim if thier misses are going to hit no shoots.
