What kind of chest rig do you use for you FAL?
What do you like about it? What do you dislike about it? Post pictures too if possible.

I never bothered as it is impossible for me to adjust it to where it doesn't irritate me. If you have a bunch of 30-rd mags, you could always use a Canadian C2-gunners bra. They show up on eBay and FALFiles pretty regularly. |

I use a Chinese Type 63 chest rig, which looks a lot like an SKS pouch. It holds 5 mags, or 6 if you don't mind being poked in the ribs by the outside mag on the left side. I used a fastex buckle off of a piece of damaged gear and now it fits my thick cest much better than trying to tie the ends together!! I bought it very cheap, but I haven't seen them around much anymore.
For $10 or so, why not? |

I'm considering a Blue Force Gear 10 Speed in ranger green:
Simple, slim, discrete.... 101's rig is similar in basic design and one I am considering given the benefit of added historical interest. |

i too am looking for a inexpensive rig.

OSOE .308 Micro Rig
I have the standard version of one of these for my AK and AR. I plan on getting one for my FAL. Holds 4 20 or 30 rounders, with an accessory pouch that will hold a med kit and other stuff. I don't need a whole lot more. |

It's based on the chest rigs made by companies like Fereday & Sons for private purchase by Rhodesian troops and others who had a need for such things. They produced quite a bit of kit, actually. I'm actually tempted to give them a call and see if they can make me a chest rig. It'd be neat to have their name on it. I'm pretty sure they still make hiking and camping equipment, so it's probably feasible. Someone called them about making Fireforce vests but with those they apparently wanted minimum orders of 100. |

For my FAL I use a 762tactical rig. It's a Chi-com design, with webbing instead of grenade pouches on the side. I ordered short pockets and FAL magazines fit great. It carries siz magazines in the three pouches.
I am thinking of getting one of the Rhodesian lookalike vests, I will say that in both my AK and FAL chest rigs, getting two magazines double-stacked on your chest seems bulky. |

The ChiCom type 63 is my favorite chest rig. I use bunggies on the end pouches so that it holds a total of 7 mags and still is low profile. Mine holds 7 mags, too, although the outer pouches are a bit tight. The problem I have is that when I have mags in the outer pouches they tend to dig into my sides. I'm what they call here in the South, "A Big 'Ol Boy", and the mag corners end up in the exact wrong place, poking me in the ribs. I just load 5 magazines and use the outer pouches for a soft cleaning kit and a triangular bandage/field dressing(also soft). |

The Rhodesian copy rig that 101ABN327 makes is awfully pricey for what it is IMHO, when he first started making them and offered them for sale a few years ago they were like $45, now they are almost double that.
I would get a couple if he lowered the price and I think he would sell a lot more if he lowered the price. I have a couple friends who bought them when they were cheaper and they have nothing but good things to say about them. Good product just a bit pricey. I use a WWII BAR belt and it works great, but I got them a long time ago when they were a lot cheaper too! |
I use arktis chest rigs and vests. Their mag pouches hold three FAL mags. these are great rigs and are very reasonable. You can find them on ebay by doing a search for arktis. These rigs are hand made in the UK. IM if you have any questions. I dont work for them however I do use them and Alan who is the North American distributor is someone I know fairly well. I have also sold a few of these rigs as well however I am not an employee or any such thing. Anyway here is a set up I put together a few years ago. This is one of the Arktis Noorloos Rigs.

Yes 101st makes a fairly good copy. 90 percent of the original ones I saw in country were 4 cell types though, although there were lots of different kinds. It was quite the cottage industry back then. Lord and Taylor was another maker back then. |

One is 101AB 5 cell which is my goto rig. One is a 101AB 4cell 30rd rig that I now use for AK74 mags cause I got offered a hefty sum for my 5 30rd mags One is a 5 cell BFG 10speed rig that I'm tryin out and haven't got a opinion yet. On 101AB rigs, I like them alot. I did add some small carabiners to the end of the straps cause I hate weaving them in and out of the buckles. They do hold moisture and will rust your mags if you leave them in the truck after a day of sweaty range play. |

I remember when you first started selling your rigs on the Falfiles and they were much cheaper, maybe I got the $45 wrong seems maybe they were $54 but I have several friends who bought them and I know they were not as much as you are selling them for now. I can get them to back me up on this.
It's your product so you can price them at whatever price you want, they just are a bit too much for me at your current price point. |

They may have been 10 to 15 dollars cheaper 5 or 6 years ago but materials have gone way up. These rigs are made in the USA by me, not China. For comparison, here are a few more American made rigs, WITHOUT the mag pouches. Figure $30 per pouch to add to the MOLLE. I don't think my prices are out of line.
