Hey Arf, Just want to start off by saying I know NOTHING about FAL rifles. With that out of the way, I received a box full of various mags and these 2 mags were in there I couldn't identify. From my limited research, I think these are FAL mags. Looks to be a 20 & 30 rounder? Couple questions 1) Are these in fact FAL magazines? 2) Are they metric or inch? I figure I ask the experts here before I create a FalFiles account. lol ***sorry for the ghetto pic quality TIA!

From what I read they aren’t that great in the FAL. You’ll get some stoppages due to the extra mass of the extra 50% ammo load. The Aussies quit issuing them with their L2a1 heavy barrel guns. The mag works great in the Bren because gravity aids instead of opposes the spring function. Never owned one but a couple of decades ago guys were always keen on getting their hands on a 7.62 Bren mag or two. |
The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

Someone was selling the 30s for pretty cheap ($20 I think) and I bought a bunch maybe eight years back. It’s not particularly tough to mod them to work in a SCAR 17. So far I haven’t seen any issues with functioning. |
