Today I was shooting my BW5 9mm and it was functioning just fine.  I changed mags, chambered a round and nothing happend when I pulled the trigger, I cleared it, tried again and noticed the bolt wasn't all the way home.   The extractor was sticking out of the bolt just enough to catch the ejection port and prohibit the bolt/carrier from going fully home.

I brought it inside and field stripped it for further examination and found the extractor spring was bent outwards (slightly) of the extractor allowing it to travel back and forth freely.   The extractor spring could be removed by easily pulling outward on it.

Has anyone see an extractor spring fail suddenly like this?    Nothing happened with the ammo, no big bangs or exploded casings that i'm aware of.    Other than it's a "Clone", what do you guys think?   It seems to me a failed spring would show other signs before going this far.

Thanks,
Pinz

Some time back I 'heard' that Bobcat had some extractor springs that were not tempered properly, yours may be one of those.

I'd read about those problems too, but this was one of the "gold" ones that I read worked.  Oh well, I'll defintely replace it with a "HK" one next week.
