I own an early express 20ga, essentially a wingmaster with matte blue finish. The gun was originally a special purpose with a 21" field barrel. I decided I needed a longer barrel and worked a trade with one of our members who needed a youth sized barrel. All was well until I realized the newer express barrel had no ball detent. Every 3 or 4 shots, the end cap would loosen and need to be tightened down. This of course was annoying so I searched for solutions. Most involved gunsmithering and installing a ball, until I hit on this suggestion. We went clay shooting yesterday, 100rds and the cap has not come loose. Success and pretty cheap considering that's a 10 pack so pretty much a lifetime supply. I guess one could take the size from the Amazon listing and perhaps a local hardware store might have them too. The fix also looks good and is not really noticeable on the gun. It looks like it is supposed to be there. |

Wilson/Scattergun sells a front sling adapter that mounts under the cap and has a ball that locks the cap to the barrel lug. They make a straight, a 90, and also have one that goes with a shorty barrel extension. The shorty probably has the ball in the cap, mine has never come loose. |

Disregard.
Brownell's used to sell an 1100 fore end wave washer that could also be used to adapt a Wingmaster/Police barrel to an Express gun. Looks like it's been discontinued. Other options..... Hit a good hardware store and look for a rubber O-ring that will fit over the magazine tube. Visit big industrial supply houses like McMaster-Carr and look for steel wave washers that have an ID that will fit over the mag tube. |
