The Wave feature is a hook that you can catch on your pocket as your present the knife, which opens it.

It is very fast!

I find that it is very hard on clothing, and that it is not a 100% technique.

I much prefer to flick my wrist to open the knife.  It is a little slower, but more Murphy-proof.

Emerson offers knives with and w/o the wave.

I have a waved Commander and a waved CQC7B.

I do not prefer liner locks - have had them close on me before.  Emerson uses liner locks on many of his knives.  You might want to look at the frame locking HD-7.

Emerson also sells a Rapid Deployment Sheath that catches the "wave" when pulled out. There is nothing faster then this set up

The Wave is an awesome feature, but takes training just like any system. Go to Emersons website and click on the "Video Vault" link on the left. There are videos there showing how the wave operates.
