Are these level IV stand alone plates?
Are they In conjunction plates? What level protection does ESAPI protect against? |

Quoted: Even higher if you poke MRE spoons, glow sticks, and map pens in the molle webbing. MRE Spoons in molle is my biggest pet peeve. I will walk up to them and snap the spoon off. And if it is one of my soldiers, i will smoke the shit out of them. That's some pogue-ass shit, there. |

MRE Spoons in MOLLE was like our rally cap for when the Army "got dumber" than normal. My guys knew if I came out of the TOC with an MRE spoon tucked into my Armor that we were in for a ridiculous ride generally involving an NAI or some Staff Officer that wanted his CIB. SOS |

IIRC, back in the 90s you were suposed to save the spoon from an MRE so that you could use it to make an improvised firing device for a Claymore in conjunction with a clothes pin and two pieces of wire plus a 9v battery. The theory was that you used the plastic spoon to prevent the wires on either side of the clothes pin from touching. A tripwire was attached to the spoon and when pulled, allowed the clothes pin to come together, which in turn caused the claymore to detonate.
I am getting old

They are in conjunction plates, they provide multi hit protection against 30-06 AP when worn with your vest or plate carrier. This is correct. Additionally, they are considered stand alone for smaller calibers. They are also 100% sale proof...I have had a set of privately purchased Paraclete ESAPIs for sale in the EE for a while and nobody...and I mean nobody wants to even remotely pay what they cost. If one more guy PMs me about how he can get the "made in XYZ offshore" just as good as life safety gear for half that price, I am going to shoot the plates myself. It never fails to suprise me that folks will go cheap on something like body armor... |
