You'll get a bunch of Safariland and whatever recommendations...not bad but bulky IMO.

I run an HSGI drop leg holster I've been running mine HARD (overseas) for 5+ years and the only thing that failed on it was a partial failure of one of the plastic SRBs...and that was when I rolled over on it during sub-freezing weather.

The big reason I prefer this set up is the single, non-elasticized leg strap.  Most of  the rigs you see are dual leg straps and I have found it difficult to get them both adjusted "just right".  And if they are elasticized (rubber sewn into the webbing of the strap) you have to get them pretty exact or they tend to pull your pants up or down, depending on how you move.

HSGI seems to have found a method that works, and at least for me, works great.

Just throwing it out there as something to look at.

Actually, I like the cheap Blackhawk universal drop leg holster.  Ive used it overseas myself.  I pulled the top strap off and run 1 strap (I like mine to ride high).  I took off any extra straps i didnt want.  Highly modifyable and cheap, about $40.  Get a good belt, as for any drop leg holster or it will suck for your hips and knees.

I ditched my drop legs in favor of a belt mounted holster on a 3" drop. Its right where I put my drop leg and doest feel funky when I run

are you wearing armor?  or doing anything that requires you to drop stuff below the belt?

or are you going for the tactichic look?

I have Safarliand 6280/6004 bodies attached to a Safariland UBL drop attachment. That sits on an ATS War Belt, and easily clears my London Bridge plate carrier.

(Don't laugh at the plastic gun - I have a real one around somewhere)

Been running a safariland for a while. They're pretty much the standard.
You should be able to find a used 6004 on ebay for not much cash.

Hey Sleepdr, have you had any problems with that thumb shroud on your holster? I had one on my duty holster and absolutly hated it. It seemed like at the most unopertune time (times drills) my thumb would slip and get caught between it and the thumb spot on the rotating hood. Not a major issue but really annoying to me. Infact on my newest sarariland holster I gave it another chance and cut my knuckle. Maybe its just me, but I've taken them all off, just curious if I'm just weired.

I take all mine off too. I'm pretty sure it's there to prevent gun grabs but I'm not in a job that I have to worry about people getting close and trying to take my blaster.

+1, and even then anyone getting close to me up front and I lay my arm across the top of my holster/gun. If they come up from behind, then its a moot point. Good concept, poor execution imo.

Good observation.

I've been using a 1911 holster that doesn't have the shroud, and just recently mounted that Glock holster last week. That was the reason for the plastic gun; to see how well it would work for me. The verdict?

I loathe the shroud.

Detest.

Abhor.

It not only gets in the way of drawing, but makes reholstering a pain. I'm at a quite low risk of gun grabs, and the simple retention of the holster's rotating hood will be sufficient for my needs. The only thing it does marginally well is keep the holster a bit farther away from the war belt, but that's something I can also fix by adjusting the UBL. That's easily done with a hair dryer in about 5 minutes. I just haven't had the spare time to remove the blasted thing. Maybe tonight.
